Black Ops Royale Guide

Black Ops Royale (BOR) is the no-loadout, ground-loot battle royale in the Black Ops 7 Season 4 rotation — a Blackout-inspired (Black Ops 4 lineage) mode on the Avalon map. 100 players, Quads (4-max squads), developed by Treyarch / Raven under Activision. It’s a Warzone mode, not a separate purchase.

This is a complete PC / M&K crew guide for a free-to-play group of 5–8 splitting across quads. The core mental shift: loot decisions replace buy decisions. You aren’t building a gun — you’re finding one, committing to it, and climbing its rarity. Snapshot as of July 3, 2026 and subject to playlist rotation.

What Black Ops Royale Actually Is

Removed vs. Standard Warzone
  • • No custom loadouts
  • • No Gulag
  • • No Buy Stations
  • • No in-match cash economy
🎒
What You Drop In With
  • • Jäger 45 pistol
  • • A knife
  • • 2 armor plates
  • • A wingsuit

Everything else is scavenged.

Weapons — You’re NOT Prioritizing the Same Guns

Your standard-Warzone meta builds do not apply here. No attachments to pick, no Gunsmith, no leveling in Plunder. Every looted weapon comes pre-built with 1–5 fixed attachments determined by its rarity and locked to a Build Archetype.

Current Pickup Priority (Season 4)

✓ CURRENT META
  • Long / mid-range: a Recon-archetype AR is the backbone pickup — your primary beam.
  • Close range: MK.78 “Heavy Metal” LMG — the standout close-to-mid bruiser, high mag, forgiving for holding angles.
S4 Reloaded loot to watch

AN-94, VX Compact, CBRS-3, KRS-7.62 are in the current ground-loot pool.

✗ OUTDATED

The old March–May pairing (M8A1 marksman + Carbon 57 “Stalker” SMG) is no longer the meta. Don’t default to it out of habit.

M&K NOTE

Favor Recon / low-recoil archetypes for range control. Avoid committing to hyper-mobile CQB bullet-hoses as your only gun — that’s where controller aim assist hurts you most.

Attachment Kits & Rarity Strategy

Attachment Kits (purple glow, easy to spot) are the real power curve. Each kit raises the currently held weapon one rarity tier and unlocks its next fixed attachment.

1 · Hold, Then Grab

Hold the weapon you’re committing to before grabbing the kit. Kits upgrade the gun in your hands — never waste one on a throwaway.

2 · Commit Early, Feed It

Swapping guns resets your rarity investment. A Legendary gun that fits your role beats a “better” gun stuck at Common.

3 · Archetype First, Rarity Second

Match the archetype to your squad role first, then climb rarity. Chase the role you need filled, not a gun name.

4 · Check the Upgrade Path

Use the Upgrade Path tab on the Tac-Map to see what your held weapon still needs.

Avalon — Map, Drops & Rotations

Large-scale map (originally BO7’s Endgame map), reworked for BR: reduced water, added sandbars / land corridors, ziplines, boats. Season 3+ changes keep reshaping tidal flats and crossings — re-check drops after big patches.

🔫
Land on Guns, Not Chests

Prioritize visible ground weapons over racing a squad to one supply box.

📍
Ping Before the Ramp

Ping the drop so all four angle their wingsuit correctly.

🏚️
Outer for Safe Starts

Learn the map on outer compounds; hit hot POIs once you have plates + rifles.

POI / ZoneCharacter
Low TownCentral, contested — marina + rooftops
Colosseum (NE)High-tier loot, always hot
Winery / Mountain VillageMarksman country, long sightlines
Golf ClubMicro-cover, retreat fights
ResidencesVehicle rotations
Cradle BreachesBlackout zombie-zone successors — best gear, but attract fights and spawn red-gas zombie pressure

Redeploy & Survival — No Gulag

🎟️ Redeploy Token

You start with 1, carry only 1 at a time. Auto-redeploys you after a short delay on death. Loot more as you go.

🗼 Redeployment Tower

Teammate-activated; strong but a predictable pressure magnet. Don’t capture blind — check high ground, use smoke / Sensor Dart, assign a cover man.

Perks & Equipment

Perks are temporary lootable consumables (~2–4 min each), hold up to 5, manually activated, and shareable with teammates. Bank them and pop for a specific push / revive / rotation / late-zone fight rather than treating them as always-on.

⭐ Priority Perks
  • Medic — faster revives / heals
  • Paranoia — threat awareness
  • Iron Lungs — steadier long-range holds
🎒 Equipment Caps (no duplicates)
  • 2 lethals · 2 tacticals · 2 field upgrades · 2 killstreaks
  • Always keep one reset/escape tool: smoke, Grappling Hook, Trauma Kit, or Sensor Dart.

Movement & M&K

Movement uses the BO7 system — wingsuit insertion, Grappling Hook, and omnimovement on the ground. Aim assist / input balance mirrors standard Warzone: no input-based matchmaking separates you from controllers. Plan around it, don’t expect protection from it.

WHERE YOU WIN

Range, through tracking and recoil control. Play power positions and pre-aim lanes.

WHERE YOU LOSE

Chaotic CQB, where controller rotational aim assist is strongest. Use cover, angles, and utility to reset — don’t take unnecessary close brawls.

First-Session Plan (5–8 Crew, Quads)

1
Confirm Rotation

Check BOR is in the playlist before committing the night.

2
Verify the Gate

Every PC passes MAA (TPM 2.0 + Secure Boot) so nobody drags the party to Casual.

3
Split Two Quads

Balance the squads — see the Private Match note below.

4
Assign Roles

Per quad: Recon AR anchor, Heavy Metal bruiser, utility/redeploy manager, flex.

5
Drop Outer

Learn the map, then rotate into contested POIs once geared.

6
One Gun, Fed

Drill the “hold-then-grab” kit rule until it’s automatic.

7
Bank Before Pushing

Have a Redeploy Token and a reset tool before pushing anything.
