Competitive Settings & Mechanics
These are competitive-optimized PC / mouse & keyboard settings for Warzone in the Black Ops 7 Season 4 era — tuned for the three things that actually win gunfights: lowest latency, highest target clarity, and consistent control. Not prettiness.
This page is built for a returning-after-a-year crew (35+), so it pairs the config with a movement re-orientation section covering everything that changed in the last twelve months. Confidence is tagged throughout — competitive-standard consensus, community-tested numbers, and Activision-confirmed items are flagged inline. Snapshot as of July 3, 2026.
Step 0 — The Anti-Cheat Gate (Do This First)
Season 4 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled in BIOS to pass Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA) + the RICOCHET kernel driver. One party member who fails attestation drags the entire squad into Casual-only matchmaking. Every crew PC must pass — confirm MAA passes in a Casual match before a serious night. (Confidence: Activision-confirmed.)
Graphics & Display
Goal: lowest latency, highest clarity, stable frametime. Cap your frame rate just under your monitor’s refresh to stay inside the NVIDIA Reflex low-latency window, and kill every effect that muddies target reads.
| Display Setting | Competitive Value |
|---|---|
| Display Mode | Fullscreen Exclusive — lowest latency |
| Resolution / Aspect | Native monitor res & aspect |
| Refresh Rate | Monitor max (144 / 240+) |
| V-Sync | Off |
| Frame Rate Cap | Custom cap ~3–5 FPS below monitor refresh (stay in Reflex window) |
| NVIDIA Reflex | On + Boost |
Field of View
High FOV for peripheral awareness. Balance against target size at range.
Competitive standard — keeps consistency and awareness while aiming down sights.
Reduce weapon obstruction wherever an option exists.
Quality — Visibility & FPS Priority
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Texture Quality | Med–High | Minimal comp impact; drop if VRAM-bound |
| Shadows | Low | FPS + reduces visual clutter |
| Particle / Effects | Low | Clarity in fights |
| Ambient Occlusion | Off | FPS |
| Screen-Space Reflections | Off | FPS |
| Depth of Field | Off | Obscures targets |
| Motion Blur (World + Weapon) | Off | Obscures targets |
| Film Grain | Off / 0 | Obscures targets |
Upscaling & Frame-Gen
DLSS Quality (or DLAA with headroom) for clarity + FPS.
FSR Quality.
XeSS Quality.
Avoid Frame Generation for Competitive
Frame-Gen adds latency. Prefer native / DLAA if your GPU sustains the capped FPS, and upscale only to hit the cap. Set enemy/team colors for max contrast where the option exists, and disable anything that muddies target reads.

Competitive-standard config, community consensus. Exact menu labels shift per patch.
Mouse & Keyboard / Input
The number that matters is eDPI = DPI × in-game sensitivity. Match it across your games; don’t chase a “correct” DPI. Common COD/Warzone range is roughly 2400–4800 eDPI.
Recommended Starting Point
Controlled · tracking-friendly · good for 35+ M&K vs. fast movement
ADS & Transition
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| ADS Sensitivity Type | Relative (common comp default) or Legacy — pick one and stay |
| ADS Sens Multiplier | 0.80–1.00 (start 0.90; drop to 0.80 if overshooting at range) |
| Monitor Distance Coefficient | 1.0 |
| Mouse Acceleration | Off — in-game and Windows |
| Mouse Smoothing / Filtering | Off |
Tuning — Change One Variable at a Time
Raise in-game to 1.2–1.5 (3840–4800 eDPI).
Drop to 0.9 (2880 eDPI).
Keybinds (M&K, Current Movement)
- ✓ Separate binds for slide and dive if the game allows — don’t leave both on one context key.
- ✓ Tac-sprint on a reliable key (or auto-tac-sprint on, preference).
- ✓ Mantle / jump accessible for movement tech.
- ✓ Mount disabled or rebound if it interferes with ADS-against-cover.
- ✓ Interact / reload prioritization set so reload doesn’t eat interacts in loot scrambles.
Info:
eDPI framing and accel-off are hard competitive standards. Specific multipliers are preference within the stated range.
Movement — What Changed in ~12 Months
This is the section a returning player needs most. The movement system evolved, the aggressive meta shifted away from slide-cancels, and tac-sprint moved. Confidence is a mix of Activision-confirmed patch notes and community-tested numbers — flagged per item.
Omnimovement (BO7 “Next-Level”)
Omnidirectional sprint/slide/dive, wall-jump, combat roll, and move-while-mounted. Faster and more expressive than what you left.
Tactical Sprint — Moved
Tac-sprint is now tied to the Sprinter perk rather than being universal-default. Plan your perk choice around it.
Sliding — Nerfed
Season 3 applied a Slide ADS −30% penalty, killing slide-cancel spam and pushing the aggressive meta toward bunny-hopping / jump-shots. Slide is still fine for repositioning, weaker as a gunfight tech.
Mantling
Mantle/ledge-grab remains; no full auto-mantle overhaul, but movement flows into mantles faster. Mantle-cancel tech exists at the margins for advanced players.
- • M&K wingsuit fix on Avalon — earlier M&K-specific control jank addressed. (Patch-noted.)
- • Verdansk removed Redeploy Balloons — rotations rely more on vehicles / ziplines there. (Patch-noted.)
Bunny-hop / jump-shot is the current aggressive tech of choice post-slide-nerf; drop-shot is situational. On M&K these are executable but demanding — don’t feel obligated to adopt them to be competitive at your bracket.
Audio
Use the footstep-priority / headphones preset. Prioritize directional clarity over a cinematic mix.
Reduce music/ambience; keep effects and footsteps prominent.
Info:
Standard comp guidance; exact preset names are patch-dependent.
HUD, Interface & Gunplay-Feel
Square/expanded if available — maximize info.
Set colorblind/enemy color for max contrast even if not colorblind — pure visibility play.
Minimal, high-contrast crosshair.
Tune so revives/plates/loot don’t misfire in chaos.
Off. Keep the ADS transition type consistent.
Be aware of sprint-to-fire delays at the build level — the meta builds account for this.
PC Performance & System Prep
- ✓ Secure Boot + TPM 2.0 on (mandatory — see Step 0).
- ✓ Update GPU drivers; clear/rebuild shader cache after major patches (stutter fix).
- ✓ Set the game to High Performance GPU + power plan.
- ✓ Close overlays that add latency; keep one (Reflex handles latency, not overlays).
- ✓ Verify game integrity after big patches if you get texture/stutter issues.
Crew Rollout (Staged)
Every PC: Secure Boot + TPM 2.0. Confirm MAA passes in a Casual match first.
Everyone applies graphics + input, then individually dials eDPI.
One firing-range/Rebirth session for omnimovement, the slide nerf, bunny-hop rhythm.
Apply presets, confirm footstep clarity.
Then run BR / Black Ops Royale nights.
On the Horizon — MW4 Integration (Oct 23, 2026)
The MW4 integration will reshape the Warzone meta, movement tuning, and weapon pool at its Season 1. Treat the current config as stable-for-now but expect a re-tune when MW4 lands — hold major spending decisions until then.
Confidence Summary
Anti-cheat gate & patch-noted movement items — Activision-confirmed. Sensitivity/latency/visibility config — competitive-standard consensus. Specific movement numbers (slide −30%, tac-sprint perk) — community-tested, re-verify per patch. Snapshot as of July 3, 2026.
